About UCAL
United Commercial Autoworks Ltd. was conceptualized by the Barbados Workers’ Union in conjunction with the severed workshop staff of the Transport Board and wholly supported by the Government of Barbados under the ministership of The Right Hon. Owen Arthur. UCAL was incorporated on July 21, 1997, and started operation on August 1st, 1997.
UCAL is unique in its composition and is the first known worker-owner company of its type in Barbados. The Transport Board who assisted in the formation of the entity has share holding of 20% in the company. Other investors in the company include the Barbados Workers’ Union and the Barbados Workers’ Union Co-operative Credit Union.
For the past twenty-three years, we have been providing repairs and maintenance services to the Transport Board. Additionally, we also provide an extensive and comprehensive range of automotive repairs and maintenance services to commercial, private and government statutory entities.
